Weight Loss Tips: Losing Weight to Help Your Feet
The New Year is just around the corner. Many people have the same or similar resolutions for 2017. For a large majority, it is getting healthy or lose weight. What about those with foot pain, plantar fasciitis or flat feet.
Losing weight is slightly more difficult for them. Well, I have come up with a few different ways for you to help you lose weight if you have issues with your feet.
How To Lose Your Weight On 3 Easy Steps
1. Foot Pain
This makes running, jogging and even walking painful. Do not fret; there are other ways to get your cardio in besides activities that require you to be on your feet. Have you tried swimming? Swimming is a great low intensity work out that does not require your feet to touch the ground.
People who are confined to wheel chairs are able to walk in the water, so even if you are confined to a wheel chair, you can still walk in the water. I highly recommend swimming laps get your heart rate up. This will help lower your blood pressure and help you burn more calories.
If swimming laps are not your thing, then you can always try water aerobics. It is a great group activity that is offered at many swimming pools. I have noticed while working at a pool that it is often an older group that does this activity.
If you are a senior, then try water aerobics. It is low intensity on your body but will work every muscle. I highly encourage you to give it a try.
2. Plantar Fasciitis
This makes doing any exercise difficult. I highly recommend swimming for this foot problem as well. If you do not want to swim and would rather run or jog or use the elliptical, then, by all means, do that.
It is what you do before and after the exercise that matters most. You need to stretch your foot really good. Here are some examples of the stretches you can do:
- Before exercise, grab a towel and sit on the floor. You are going to take the hand towel and stretch out your right foot first. Take the towel and make sure your hands have a firm grasp at both ends and wrap it around the foot. Flex your foot and have the towel pull the foot towards your body. Hold for about 10 to 15 seconds. Then switch to the other foot. This will help with the muscles while you are moving.
- After exercise, grab a frozen water bottle and place it on the floor. Take your right foot and just keep the sock on it. Then place your foot over the water bottle and roll it back and forth. Do this for about 20 seconds. After you are finished, switch to the left foot.
Hopefully, this warms up and cool down exercises will help you with your muscle pain.

3. Flat Feet
This is quite easy to deal with. You are able to do any exercises you want; you just need to make sure you have the right pair of sneakers for it. Wear athletic sneakers that have good support in them. Stay away from running shoes since they are built to be lightweight.
Instead look for a good jogging sneaker or cross training shoes. These two provide the maximum amount of support for their wearers. Support is necessary for flat feet. Many people swear they have flat feet because they do not have good arch support in their shoes. Make sure you fix that problem soon.
As with anyone trying to lose weight, you need to focus on diet as well. Reduce calories and moving more are key, though. Trade bread in for vegetables, switch red meat hamburgers for mushroom burgers and choose water over high calorie sodas and juices.
With these easy switches and plenty of exercises, you will see results soon enough. Good luck on your journey to weight loss and I hope these pieces of information will make a difference in your life.
